I grew up in Mt. Elgin, Foldens and Ingersoll, where I currently live. I am a Professor of History and Indigenous Studies at Western University and a band member of Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve. I currently sit on the joint board of directors for the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll. I also serve on the board of directors for several national and international heritage organizations, as well as the Museum of Archaeology in London, and Stevenson Children's Camp in Dorchester. I am running in this Federal election to bring a grassroots voice from Oxford to Parliament. I believe that my lived experience partnered with my professional and community work are the best fit to represent Oxford's needs, concerns, and strengths in Ottawa. By electing me as your next Member of Parliament, I will focus on issues that matter to Oxford such as sustainability in manufacturing and agriculture, affordability, housing, and access to mental health services.
Our campaign is focused on local priorities while also considering the importance of national issues. Cody is committed to reflecting diverse and progressive ideas within Oxford, such as:
- Renewable and energy efficient vehicle manufacturing
- Protect Oxford's agribusinesses from the impacts of climate change
- Support pharmacare and dental care programs
- Address financial and social security for seniors
- Collaborate for greater investments in health and long term care
